Cytology is the study of cells after they have been stained by dyes, down the microscope. The "art" part is visually recognizing the differences in color, shape, size, texture and patterns you see. The science is the medical knowledge that accompanies the diagnosis of cancer, parasites, fungi, viruses and much more.
