Driving on Australian roads can be risky because kangaroos bounce, they are often hit by cars. The problem is that the joeys inside the pouches become fatalities unless they are rescued as well. Then if left in the middle of the road the wedge tailed eagles that feed on the carcasses becomes victims themselves. Wombats are also not immune to this either because they have a hard plate in their bottoms they turn away from oncoming traffic much to their detriment. Thus many Australians drive slow, rescue joeys from pouches at the side of the road and pull dead kangaroos and wombats to the side of the road. But these are not the only fatalities as a rescuer you must ensure that you are safe as well and then there is the Shingleback lizards. These reptiles mate for life and when one is hit on the road, the other one will stay with the partner till death do they part or till they are rescued by moving the partner to the side of the road. Thus additional deaths can be prevented in these situations.
