Noisy Miners and Indian Mynas

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

If you in the wrong place at the wrong time something or someone may want to eliminate you. This is true for plants like Australia's National flower- the Golden Wattle that is a weed in South Africa, fish like Carp that muddy water systems, people, cane toads and birds- the list is extensive. In Canberra Indian Mynas are considered feral pests, they are chocolate brown and have a yellow beak and eye patch, they are gregarious birds. Unfortunately for the native Noisy Miner that is also noisy and likes to be in a flock, is the same size and has a yellow beak and eye patch they are often incorrectly identified as Indian Myna birds. The difference is that the Noisy Miners are a lighter grey textured color. I have tried to show this in my Noisy Miner painting, even though shadows may make them appear darker. Please don't hurt them.
